The Glimpses of India, A Grand Photographic History of The Land of Antiquity, the Vast Empire of The East. A very interesting and certainly enjoyable book. It is a reprint of the original book from 1895. The preface acknowledges the vast Indian Empire with its bewildering diversity of people. Its wonderful monuments of a past greatness, its gorgeous palaces, its beautiful temples, its splendid mosques.

The beauty and grandeur of its scenery, the magnificent Maharajas, renders it one of the most intensely interesting countries of the world. Not only to the historian, the artist, and the scholar but also to the traveller desirous of new experiences. It is impossible to exaggerate the charms of such marvels as the Taj Mahal at Agra. The forts of Poona, Fatehpur Sikri, Elephanta Caves, and so on…Indeed a good reading on indian history and is profusely illustrated with photographs of the period.
