Taj Mahal View From Agra Fort – Old Photo 1880

This old 1889 photo shows the view of the Taj Mahal from the Agra Fort. The Taj Mahal as everyone knows is a dazzling white marbled mausoleum in honor of a woman- Mumtaz Mahal the favorite wife of Shah Jahan.

Shah Jahan was inconsolable when his beloved wife died in 1631. To commemorate her, he commissioned the building of an all marble mausoleum in 1632. The monument was completed in 1653. Today, it is listed as one of the seven wonders of the modern world, and a UNESCO heritage site.

It houses the tombs of both Mumtaz Mahal and Shah Jahan. And is considered a must-see historical monument to visit before you die. The garden and the landscape is itself a spectacular sight. The view also shows the Agra Fort in the foreground from where this photograph was taken.
