Aerial View of The Gateway Of India, Taj Mahal Hotel, Royal Bombay Yacht Club In British Era Bombay, 2 Postcards 1927

Two 1920s postcards feature aerial views of the Gateway of India, Taj Mahal Hotel, and the Royal Bombay Yacht Club in Bombay (Mumbai). The Taj Mahal Hotel flanks the iconic Gateway of India on the left and the Royal Bombay Yacht Club on the right. The historic waterfront area is still known as Apollo Bunder.
The Annexe of the Royal Bombay Yacht Club is between the Club and the Taj Hotel, facing the Gateway of India. The Prince of Wales Museum, with its massive dome, appears behind the Annexe. And partially visible on the top left is the Marine Drive with its famous curved promenade. The transformation of Bombay from a group of seven islands into the thriving metropolis seen in these images was an extraordinary achievement. Click first image to enlarge.
