Constructing The Famous Art Deco Buildings In Bombay, 2 Photos 1935

Two small photos of the famous Art Deco buildings at Marine Drive in Bombay (Mumbai). One of the photos is from 1935 and shows an Art Deco building in Marine Drive under construction. The other photo is from 1937, it shows the row of Art Deco buildings after completion.
Marine Drive (Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Road) sweeps along a promenade from Nariman Point to Malabar Hill. Parallel to the promenade are the sea-facing Art Deco buildings. Characterized by a strong Art Deco flavour, which was popular in Bombay during the 1930s and 1940s. The apartment blocks on the seafront were built to a uniform height of five floors.
