George Bernard Shaw Famous English Author In Bombay, 1933 Photo

A 1933 photo of the famous English author and Nobel Laureate George Bernard Shaw in Bombay. Shaw received the prestigious Nobel Prize for literature in 1925. His books and plays are still popular to this day. Some of his works include- Pygmalion, Man And Superman, The Intelligent Woman’s Guide to Socialism And Capitalism, and so on.

George Bernard Shaw was on a world tour when he arrived in Bombay in 1933. He acknowledges the huge crowd that had turned out to see him. Socialist in thought he had empathy for the Indian freedom struggle. And was a great admirer of Mahatma Gandhi describing him “He  is  the  sort  of  man  who  is born,  perhaps, once in several  centuries, a  very marvelous  personality.”  Because of their very limited time, Shaw and his wife Charlotte, could not visit other parts of the country.
