The Victoria Terminus or Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus is one of the most beautiful railway stations in the world. Once owned by the Great Indian Peninsula Railways it was nationalized and renamed Central Railway in 1951.

Designed by F W Stevens, that took ten years to complete. The Victoria Terminus was built where the Bori Bunder Station stood in 1887. Marking Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee in the same year. It was in Bori Bunder the first train journey took place in India in 1853. The station incorporated beautiful stone carvings, gargoyles, and busts.

Did you know – Queen Victoria’s statue was installed on the main façade of the building, in a canopy under the clock. But after 1947 the statue went missing and to date, there is no record as to how it disappeared.
