Maharaja Gaekwad’s Bungalow In Bombay, 1913 Postcard

A 1913 postcard of the Maharaja Gaekwad’s Bungalow in  Bombay (Mumbai). Maharaja Gaekwad’s bungalow was also known as Jayamahal Palace. The magnificent Jayamahal Palace was built by the Maharaja Sayaji Rao Gaekwad III of Baroda.

The Jayamahal Palace had a grand durbar hall and a sprawling garden. It was located on the beautiful Napean sea road at Malabar Hill, overlooking the sea. Unfortunately, the palace was demolished in 1960, not sure of the exact reason. Once known as the most charming residential building in Bombay or Mumbai. The back shows handwritten text possibly in French.
