The second picture’s view is of the walled city of Old Delhi densely packed with buildings. It was formerly known as Shahjahanabad. Built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, who had also built, the Taj Mahal in Agra. Shahjahanabad was enclosed by around 10 km long wall. The wall had openings through its ten gates. The famous Chandni Chowk is situated in this walled city. King George V had announced the shifting of the capital from Calcutta to New Delhi at the Coronation Durbar of 1911.
