Arrival Of Lord Mountbatten At Delhi – Old Print 1947

This is an old print on the New Viceroy Od India: Lord Mountbatten’s Arrival at Delhi. A page from The Illustrated London News of April 5, 1947. It measures 14 x 10 inches. He arrives by air first to Karachi, later in the day leaving for the capital. Shows 1st picture at Sind., 2nd picture at Palam airport shaking hands with Liaqat Ali Khan on his sides are Jawaharlal Nehru and Field Marshal Sir Claude Auchinleck, c-in-c.,

Center picture- Mountbatten ascending the Durbar Hall. To take over from his predecessor, Lord Wavell. Bottom- 1st pic on his way to assume the post of Viceroy of India: Mountbatten with Lady Mountbatten, driving through New Delhi in the state carriage. 2nd pic greeted at Northolt airport (UK) on his return from India. These are interesting pieces of history, showing the days just before India’s independence.
