Raja Ravi Varma Painting – 2 Old Postcards 1976

These are two old 1976 postcards based on Raja Ravi Varma’s paintings. They are the Swan Messenger (1906) and Lady In The Moonlight (1889). Both housed at the Shri Jayachamarajendra Art Gallery, Mysore. The Mysore Maharaja’s Jaganmohan Palace got converted to an art gallery that is the Jayachamarajendra Art Gallery.

King Krishnaraja Wodeyar III constructed the Jaganmohan Palace in 1861 as an alternate retreat for the royal family. The gallery holds around 2000 paintings and has in possession twelve paintings of the great artist including his brother Raja Raja Varma. The Maharaja of Mysore had invited Ravi Varma twice.
