11 Picture Postcards On Raja Ravi Varma Oil Paintings

This is a collection of Raja Ravi Varma Oil Paintings brought out in 11 picture postcards from the 1960s. Since it is mentioned Prepared For Art Students at the back these perhaps are exemplars for the student’s artwork. In total there are 11 of these postcards titled- There comes papa, Santanu and Ganga, lady at ball game, Sakuntala, suckling child,

Nala Damyanti, Galaxy of musicians, and so on. Raja Ravi Varma needs no introduction to a painter of unparalleled skill. Born in 1848 and died in 1906 at Kilimanoor in the then Kingdom of Travancore (South Kerala). “There Comes Papa” painting is at Kowdiar Palace in Trivandrum. “Galaxy of musicians,” The “Lady At Ball Game” and his other artworks are with various collectors not sure the exact locations.

Did you know-  the Indian government declared  Ravi Varma and his artworks a national treasure in 1979.
