Indian Soldiers In The British Raj Army, 1895 Print

This is a page from the 1895 London based newspaper The Graphic and is titled The Indian Soldiers of the Queen. It measures 16 x 11 inches. Under the empire, India provided the most number of troops than any other country in the various theaters of war across the world. And are the true unsung heroes of this country in WW I & II.

Their war efforts have not been given due respect or properly acknowledged. Over one million volunteered and risked their lives in India and abroad. Many of them died unsung and forgotten. Only a few received medals from Britain, France, and so on. Read more- Indian Army during World War I.

Did you know- over 1 million Indian soldiers volunteered under the British Raj in wartime. Many returned but many died, many went missing, many were mutilated, and many of them traumatized.
