Bowring Institute Club In Bengaluru – Old Postcard 1907

This is the third postcard on Bowring Institute a club in Bangalore or Bengaluru dating to around 1907. Started by Britisher B.L. Rice a civil service personnel in the British India era of 1888.

Bowring Institute is a social and recreational club in a 12-acre plot in the heart of Bengaluru city. Its main building was conferred as a structure.

The building shown in the picture is after modification adding the two side wing rooms. See my post of the original main building before the modification- Bowring Institute Bangalore – Old Postcard 1895. 

Verandah and the two side wing rooms were added, the center portico is there from the beginning. These three postcards show an interesting transformation. A major restoration of the club’s main building commenced in 2015 and completed in 2020.  It is today one of Bengaluru’s heritage buildings.
