The Coast of Colaba In Bombay, 1890 Photo

An 1890 photo of the Colaba coast in Bombay (Mumbai). Some steamer ships are seen anchored off the coast. Buildings and houses are visible on the coastline. Colaba was one of the seven islands before Bombay was reclaimed into a single landmass. Located south of the Fort area, it is one of the most visited places in Bombay and has its fair share of colonial history. Frequently visited by tourists, shoppers, diners, and so on. The southern area of the Colaba coast that is seen, is a Naval defense area today. It is out of bounds for all except with permission.
