Sitaram Buildings Market & Trams Bombay – Old Postcard 1908

This is an old 1908 postcard of the Sitaram buildings market and tram in Bombay or Mumbai. There is no information about this Sitaram establishment but perhaps located in the Fort area. Since the Crawford market building is partially visible in the background which is also in the Fort area. Also visible are two of Bombay’s once-famous Electric Trams in the foreground.

Using a magnifier to the Postcard, the Tram’s board reads “Museum East” and some commercial display boards read – “Liptons”, “Shahjahan Palace Hotel”, “The Bombay Tailors”, there are few other names that are not clear.

Did you know- Dharavi in Mumbai is Asia’s largest slum, if not perhaps the world’s largest.
