Procession of Indian Princes Delhi Durbar 1903 – Old Postcard

This is an old postcard that shows the procession of Indian Princes at the Delhi Durbar of 1903. Here the Maharaja Of Rewa rides is grandly carried in an Elephant Carriage. Behind is a horse carriage possibly carrying the Nizam of Hyderabad and still behind is another of the prince on elephant back. There were Delhi Durbars or coronation durbars in 1877, 1903, and 1911.

Many more durbars were planned but did not fructify for some reason or the other. This 1903 Delhi Durbar was to mark the succession of King Edward VII to the throne. He ascended the throne after the death of his mother Queen Victoria in 1901. The Maharaja of Rewa Venkatraman Ramanuj Prasad Singh Ju Deo attended the ceremony in 1903.
