Shown here is the father of the nation leaving Birla House for a meeting with Lord Linlithgow, the then Viceroy of India, regarding the Rajkot dispute thus spurring him into his “fast unto death”. Sarojini Naidu or Sarojini Chattopadhyay before marriage was born to Bengali Brahmin parents. Nicknamed the Nightingale of India was a gifted poetess.

Did you know- in 1898, Sarojini had a intercaste marriage with married Paidipati Govindarajulu Naidu, a doctor, an intercaste marriage. Both the families of the bride and groom approved the marriage. Naidu joined the Indian national movement in the wake of the partition of Bengal in 1905.
