A unique book containing colour plates reproducing paintings of Thakur Singh. The plates represent landscapes, temples, monuments, and some striking aspects of Indian cities. S G Thakur Singh’s painting exudes beauty in art that is clearly joy to the eye. Born in 1899 in Verka near Amritsar, Thakur Singh was awarded Padma Shri in 1973.

A landscape artist, he spent later years of his life in Amritsar where he founded the Thakur Singh School of Arts that turned into an art gallery later. Thakur Singh organised the Punjab Fine Art Society in Kolkata, and the Society’s first Exhibition was held in 1926. The Society promoted Thakur Singh’s own works, publishing his paintings in The Art of S. G. Thakur Singh and Glimpses of India. Glimpses of India book had introductions by Rabindranath and Abanindranath Tagore. He died in 1976. Glimpses of India Unique Art Collection Book, By S G Thakur Singh
