Delhi Inauguration Party Viceroy’s House – Old Photo 1931

This is an old 1931 photograph of the inauguration of Delhi party at the Viceroy’s House. Apparently, high ranking people attended this 1931 Delhi inauguration party. The invitees were largely the elite from the British Raj’s military and civil officers, India’s maharajas, princelings. Which also included foreign dignitaries.

All assembled at the garden of the Viceroy’s house, now known as the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The viceroy was the supreme head of British India at the time. And Lord Irwin was the viceroy at the time. The Viceroy residence became the Rashtrapati Bhavan after independence, today it is occupied by the President of India.
