This vintage book gives a detailed account of Thomas Parry and his achievements. He set up his company EID Parry Company in Madras, now Chennai in 1787. As the title suggests the book is all about Parry’s company, which is around 250 years old now. It was taken over by the Murugappa Group of Madras in 1981.
Headquartered in Chennai, it is still in use with its old name. Parry’s was originated by Thomas Parry, a Britisher, who came to India in the late 1780s. On 17 July 1788, he started a business of banking and piece goods. The business established by Parry continued to grow, and its flagship company EID Parry emerged. In 1908 Parry & Company set-up ‘The Pottery’ unit in Ranipettai and over the of years it was named as “Parryware”.
