Coonoor In Nilgiris – Old Postcard 1910

This is an old 1910 postcard of Coonoor in the Nilgiris or the Blue Mountains. The mist that forms on the mountains gives an illusion of blueness hence the name blue mountains. Coonoor was also part of the discovery of John Sullivan’s team like Ooty. It is the second-largest town after Ooty.

Read about-  History Of Coonoor. See my posts- Ooty Or Udhagamandalam In The Nilgiris (#1) – Old Photo1880.

The Nilgiris toy train halts at Coonoor station for the change of Steam Engine to Diesel Engine. The return procedure is the same. Coonoor is connected with the beautiful Nilgiris Mountain Railway. The steam locomotive of the train is replaced by a diesel engine up to Ooty.

Did you know- Coonoor is famous for its tea estates, homemade chocolates, Coonoor cheese, honey, etc.
