Bombay Welcomes The Prince & Princess, 1905 Print
A 1905 print shows the Prince of Wales George and Princess Mary at a public function in Bombay. This page is from the Black & White newspaper of, December 2, 1905. The title reads- The Royal Visit To India: Receiving The Address From The Municipal Council, Bombay. The Princess and Prince of Wales (the future Princess Mary and King George V) toured India in November 1905.
Having a busy schedule, here they are seen in attendance at a public function held in their honour. Noteworthy is the elite crowd both Indian and European keenly looking on. The royal tour lasted four months, visiting the length and breadth of the subcontinent. From Bombay to Delhi; Peshawar to Rangoon, and Madras to Bangalore. The royal couple would again visit India after ascending the British throne as Princess Mary and King George V.
