The Wreck first edition novel, written by the famous Rabindranath Tagore. Rabindranath Tagore was the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in literature, in 1913. In India, Tagore is considered as the supreme literary genius. He gave new vigor to Indian literature by liberating it from its strong Sanskrit bond.
Rabindranath Tagore was undoubtedly responsible for exposing the best of Indian culture to the West. His writing and poetry continue to be admired and respected for its elegance and emotional sensitiveness. The Wreck is one of his later period novels he had written (circa 1921). Tagore’s books are essentially Indian, infusing a sense of cultural pride and roots of India.
