This is a first-edition book brought out by a husband and wife who had travelled around the world. The book gives a detailed account of their long tour. Essentially following certain well-defined travel routes from America to Japan, China, India, Egypt, Palestine, and back to America again, via Europe. In their journeys, the authors were personally attended by kind friends and acquaintances of every country they visited.
Both the husband and wife authors travelled directly to communities and not touristy places, they saw unique cultures and communities worldwide without being judgemental or prejudiced. Their observations and illustrations were truly amazing even to this day. In a surreal way, it transports the reader back to the 19th century.
