King George V Emperor Of India, Old Print 1910
Old 1910 print of King George V Emperor of India. This print is a page from The Times of India Supplement of 1910. Shown are King George, Queen Mary, and their eldest son Prince Edward VIII. The picture was possibly taken after George V ascended the British throne as the King (and Emperor of India). Both had visited India twice.
First in 1905 when he was the Prince of Wales. The second was in 1911 for the Delhi Durbar and was bestowed with the additional title of Emperor of India. Prince VIII would succeed his father King George V to the throne. Prince Edward became the sovereign in 1936 but his reign lasted only 11 months. He abdicated his throne because he married a divorcee. His younger brother King George VI would become the monacrh in December 1936. Click on the photo for better view.
Did you know- George VI was the father of Queen Elizabeth II.
