Bamboo Island Cubbon Park Bangalore, PC 1905

This is an old 1905 PC or postcard of Cubbon Park and Bamboo Island, Bangalore, or Bengaluru. Richard Sankey, Chief Engineer of the then Mysore State, designed and created Cubbon Park in the British India era of 1870. The park is in the heart of Bengaluru.

See post Britishers In Horse Carriages At Lalbagh Bangalore Old Photo.

At the start, the park was allocated 100 acres but the area increased to 300 acres gradually till today. Additionally bamboo island but now a bamboo grove was tastefully designed and built in the park. Which you can see in the postcard. The park, with its lush green flora, is a very necessary green lung for Bangalore city. Notice a European in a white dress standing near the extreme left. Click on the photo for better view
