Bamboo Island & Cubbon Park Bangalore – Old Postcard 1905
This is an old 1905 postcard of the famous Cubbon Park with the Bamboo Island in Bangalore or Bengaluru. Richard Sankey, Chief Engineer of the then Mysore State, designed and created Cubbon Park in the British India era of 1870. The park is in the heart of Bengaluru.
At the start, the park was allocated 100 acres but the area increased up to 300 acres till today. Additionally bamboo island now bamboo grove was tastefully designed and built in the park. Which you can see in the postcard. The park, with its lush green flora, is a very necessary green lung for Bangalore city. A Britisher can be noticed sitting on a bench on the left side.
Did you know- the city was once also called the garden city of India and probably still is.
