Vintage Oleograph Raja Ravi Varma “Laxmi”. It dates to 1910 and is from the Raja Ravi Varma Press. The frame measures 26 x 20 inches, weighs 2.5 kg. This Raja Ravi Varma Laxmi is another of the rare Vinolia soap advertisement oleograph. See my post on- Vintage Oleograph Raja Ravi Varma “Vishnu On Sheshnag a Vinolia advertisement oleograph.

After Fritz Schleicher acquired the Press. The Press also made advertisement oleographs for many British India companies. Vinolia soaps and toiletries were imported into British India. Since the Raja Ravi Varma’s Gods and Goddesses oleographs had mass appeal throughout India. It was the best advertising solution any brand could have. See this example of Ravi Varma’s Laxmi oleograph with the Vinolia advertisement.

The oleograph shows the Vinolia soap advertisement at the bottom. I have one in my collection of an empty Vinolia soapbox, see the images above.
