Post Office In British India Era, 1900 Advertisement Postcard

This is an old 1900 French advertisement postcard depicting a British India period post office. At the back is an advertisement for a disinfectant “Lysoform” for use in summer. It reads- “In summer when infections are in the dust and sweat in the skin ground convenient to their development, the only disinfectant, not being poisonous or smelly that best suits the person, is Lysoform.”

Because of its mass reach postcards were the best form of advertisement. In other words, postcards were the Snapchat and Instagram or WhatsApp of their time. The British undoubtedly left behind a superb postal system in India. That became one of the largest and most efficient postal systems in the world. The illustration shows a post office in the colonial era of 1900
